The South African rand is trading steady at a level of 19.00. On Friday the local unit was trading between a range of 18.92 to a high of 19.06. During last week’s trading the rand reached its best level of 18.82 for the week. The predicted trading range for the rand today is between 18.9000 to 19.2000.
Local market focus this week is on the Gold and Mining Production Numbers due tomorrow and Retail Sales due on Wednesday. Global market focus will be on the U.S. CPI numbers due tomorrow and U.S. Retails Sales, Housing Stats and PPI numbers due later this week. Asian markets will be quiet today due to holidays in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore.
The rand will look for support at 18.95, 18.84 and then a low of 18.79. The resistance levels for the rand are at 19.11, 19.16, following with a high of 19.22.
